A real Bavarian restaurant, hotel and beer garden in Herrsching at Ammersee
Presentation of certificate for "Certified Bavarian Cuisine" 2014On the 10th February 2014, various gastronomy businesses were honoured for their services at the Munich Residenz. And we, Elisabeth Hellmann and Otmar Walch - the innkeepers of The Post, were there too! With pride we received the certificate for Certified Bavarian Cuisine, although Otmar said, that the landlady deserves the certificate the most, because he as a native Austrian only provides "gastronomical development aid".
The text of the certificate reads as follows: "The Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry and the DEHOGA Bayern e.V. honour after carrying out the classification procedures the gastronomy business Gasthof Hotel zur Post, Herrsching at the Ammersee, with the Certified Bavarian Cuisine"
Press release by the hotel and restaurant association DEHOGA Bayern e.V.Classification Certified Bavarian Cuisine
DEHOGA Bayern president Ulrich N. Brandl and principal Eckbert Dauer honour more than 40 gastronomy businesses all over Bavaria
(Munich) REGIONAL. SEASONAL. ORIGINAL - Under this slogan, DEHOGA Bayern president Ulrich N. Brandl together with principal Eckbert Dauer, head of the department food and market in the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry, honoured more than 40 gastronomy businesses from all administrative districts of Bavaria, amongst them Gasthof Hotel zur Post with the classification Certified Bavarian Cuisine. The restaurant proprietors officially received their certificates and inn signs in the ceremonial rooms of the Munich Residenz on the 10th February 2014. Interested guests can inform themselves under www.bayerischekueche.de, where the certified restaurants close to them can be found.
With this joint initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bavarian hotel and restaurant association DEHOGA Bayern, an even closer alliance is supposed to be forged between the farmers and the innkeepers. "The outstanding image of our specialties and our cuisine is also significantly characterised by the Bavarian innkeepers. Through the use of local products of the season, the Bavarian cuisine becomes authentic and is given a face." says principal Dauer in Munich. "Agronomy and gastronomy have to go hand in hand, and to strengthen this collaboration is my declared goal." The worldwide excellent reputation of the Bavarian cuisine is supposed to be better used and successfully presented by this cooperation.
"With this classification we highlight the art and culture of cuisine of the Bavarian region and emphasise the culinary highlights of each season, to spoil our guests with unique offers", explains DEHOGA Bayern president Ulrich N. Brandl, and adds: "Thereby play the local agricultural quality products as well as the produce of our farmers and vintners a special role, just as our innkeepers, which manage their house with high engagement and friendly, experienced staff."
The certified gastronomy businesses are all characterised by a strong use of regional products in their kitchens, the cultivation of a typical to the region kitchen culture and a high service standard. The classification has evolved from the well-known and popular competition "Bavarian Cuisine", which in the past happened every three years. Interested gastronomy businesses can enter the three-step classification at any time. "Regarding the classified businesses it is not ostensible of significance, how many rhombuses the business has", says Brandl, "it is much more important, to be classified in general. Because each guest has an individual budget, for which he expects an optimum of quality. Therefore it is worthwhile for all Bavarian oriented gastronomy businesses to participate at the classification, regardless if they receive one or three rhombuses."
